Jul 2025-TT-London Show

‘Tree of Everything (with Five Drafts of AutoAbstraction)' is an installation exploring AI, contemporary drawing, evolution, intuition, plein air painting, the quantum field, and writing as sculpture.
During July 2025, after 2 years of writing my dissertation, I started painting again. For two days I painted outside of my Catskills mountain home on half of the drop cloth that had covered my studio floor during the two years I conducted my thesis painting.
Once I morphed the gesturally abstract underpainting into the now visible loosely painted tree, I moved the piece into my studio. To complete the image, I overlayed a pink drawing inspired by an AI generated tree with roots that I created during last winter onto the more gestural, naturally colored painted tree. After it dried, I folded it, packed it into a suitcase, and flew to London.
For the installation, I also packed the five printed versions of my 25 thesis drafts from the two years of writing I had completed. Once I arrived at London South Bank University's Borough Road Gallery, with Micheal Bowdidge's assistance, I installed the painting and the stack of writing in the 'Transart- London 2025 Anthologies Exhibition.'
